Week of 3/6 - 3/10
I am Ms. Brunelle, your son/daughter's Theater Elective teacher. Throughout the rest of the course, I will send weekly emails to provide you with the class agenda, prop needs and important dates. If you do not wish to receive these emails, please let me know and I will take you off of the list.
Students will spend the semester rehearsing for a final production: Bill and Ted's Shakespearean Adventure. The play consists of various Shakespearean scenes. You are all invited to attend the performance on Thursday, May 25, 2017 in the high school auditorium at 7 PM.
With tryouts completed, students have started rehearsals. While actors are learning lines and blocking, our props crew has been busy creating floral arrangements and surfboards. Last week, we attended a performance of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet at the Zeiterion Theatre.
Next week, students are working on scenes from the following plays: The Tempest and Much Ado About Nothing. We will also review the opening / Romeo and Juliet scenes.
We have a wonderful group of about 35 students. They have been working diligently over the past month, and rehearsals are going well. Please feel free to email me with any questions.

Thank you all from coming out to our show last week -- I hope you enjoyed the production! I am very proud of the students. They worked hard and did a great job! Look out for an upcoming article on the play in The Wanderer. I will also share pictures from the show once I download them. If you have any pictures you'd like to share, please send them along.
This week, the underclassmen will organize and put the costumes and props away. They will also brainstorm ideas for next year's script. We will be holding a bake sale next Wednesday to raise funds for next year's production.

We meet on Tuesday/Thursday this week; however, our seniors will be attending the senior breakfast during class time on Thursday. As seniors make up the majority of our class, I will not hold a rehearsal that day. Instead, I will work on costumes / set with the remaining students.
Students should look for / bring in decade clothing to wear for their scenes (I will supply for students who do not have clothing -- I appreciate donations as well:)). Here is a run down of scenes / decades:
1. Taming of the Shrew - modern
2. Merchant of Venice - 40s
3. Twelfth Night - 80s
4. Hamlet - 2000s (I will provide costumes for this number)
5. Much Ado About Nothing - 50s
6. Henry IV: Part I - 70s
7. Romeo and Juliet - 60s
The play is fast approaching -- Thursday, May 26th at 7:00! As we only rehearse during class time, I have spoken to students about the importance of attending class. They have been doing a great job, and I'm looking forward to a fun and entertaining production!
